Desde niño, siempre supe que quería defender a los demás. Nací y crecí en Harlem, un barrio situado en la ciudad de Nueva York. Soy el primero de mi familia que ha nacido en Estados Unidos. Mi familia nació en República Dominicana. Me crié con mi familia en una residencia de Sección 8 y fui a la escuela pública en Harlem. Cuando fui a la universidad, es cuando dejé de vivir en Harlem por primera vez.

Conseguí mi licenciatura en el Hamilton College, ubicado al norte del estado de Nueva York, y mi doctorado en Derecho en la Facultad de Derecho Benjamin N. Cardozo, ubicada en la ciudad de Nueva York. Durante mis estudios de Derecho, participé en la Clínica de Defensa Penal y en la Clínica de Derechos Civiles, y trabajé como estudiante en práctica en varias oficinas de defensa pública en Lawrence, Massachusetts, y en la ciudad de Nueva York. Durante mis estudios de Derecho, también tuve el privilegio de ser presidente de la Asociación de Estudiantes de Derecho Afroamericanos.

Después de graduarme de la facultad de derecho, comencé mi carrera legal como defensor público en la ciudad de Nueva York. Allí representé a clientes que no podían pagar un abogado y que enfrentaban cargos por delitos menores en el Tribunal Penal de Manhattan. Desafortunadamente, fallé el examen de la barra dos veces. Me despedieron y no pude seguir trabajando como defensor público. Pero no permití que eso fuera el final y decidí tomar el examen de la barra por tercera vez. Lamentablemente, volví a fallar el examen. Decidí presentarme al examen por cuarta vez. En mi cuarto intento, por fin logré pasar el examen. Esto marcó mi regreso a la profesión de abogado. Obtuve la licencia para ejercer como abogado en Nueva York y Massachusetts. Con eso, me mudé a Lawrence, Massachusetts, para reunirme con mi familia, que se había mudado allí mientras yo estaba en la universidad.

After moving to Lawrence, I worked as an attorney at a prominent immigration law firm in Boston. I had the opportunity to represent clients in asylum and bond before the Immigration Court. While I learned a lot during my time there, I was motivated to find ways clients could be better served and appreciated. Without many answers, I left the office in search of a change of pace. I found work as a corporate attorney for a very brief time. Feeling underappreciated, I left that position and returned to immigration law.

I returned to my work as an immigration attorney at another prominent immigration law firm in Boston. During my time there, I had the opportunity to represent clients in a wider range of immigration matters including asylum, family based petitions, applications for permanent residence, consular processing, waivers and naturalization. After a few years, I was made Director of Litigation. As the Director of Litigation, I managed and supervised a large volume of the Immigration Court cases at the office. It was during this time that I began to envision opening a law firm that aligns with things I find important: transparency, empathy, and respect. The law firm would exist as a space where clients were seen, heard, and equipped with information and tools they need to navigate their immigration journey. As the attorney, I would be there to defend them and make sure their story is heard. With that vision in mind, I founded A Lawyer from Harlem.

I have had the privilege to be able to help individuals and families navigate very complex immigration situations. I have successfully litigated and secured legal status and protection for hundreds of individuals. I have advised clients on their current immigration situation, recommended ideal legal courses of action and reviewed criminal convictions that could impact their immigration status. I am dedicated to serving the immigrant community with honesty, transparency, and respect. I founded A Lawyer From Harlem so that I could have more freedom in how I serve you as an attorney.

En mi tiempo libre, me gusta jugar videojuegos, leer manga y practicar boxeo. Soy un gran fanático de los Golden State Warriors y me gusta la moda. Mi objetivo en la vida es reflejar a Jesucristo en todo lo que hago. Estoy aquí para escucharte, motivarte y ayudarte en todo lo que pueda.
